No makeup movement embrace your natural beauty

no makeup movement alicia keys gal gadot kule jenner

Empowerment to embrace your natural beauty

Many women especially celebrities were encouraged to wear makeup in order to perfect all the time. The race towards today’s beauty standard can increase your insecurities to the point you don’t have the courage to walk out of the house without makeup. Women often feel that makeup is the perfect shield against judgment and often opt to put on this mask to feel comfortable and hide their insecurities of not being beautiful enough. The unrealistic beauty expectations that no human can achieve completely is a lost quest.

In 2016 Alicia Keys stopped wearing makeup in public in her journey toward self-empowerment to show her true face, mind, soul, thoughts, dreams, struggles, and emotional growth.  Keys only focus in enhancing her natural glow with a complete skin care regimen, serums, masks, rollers, oils, facials, spf, healthy meals and exercises. Many artist followed her path posting bared faced Instagram pictures.

True confidence and empowerment is to accept ones flaws and work to fix your skin issues instead of using makeup to cover it up to exude confidence. Many skin issues are due to bad habits that we need to fix from the inside out and protect the skin from the harsh environment. This will help to decrease the signs of aging in the long run, something that makeup won’t be able to cover.

In addition, love yourself and stay positive to supporting each other in the realization that worth isn’t based on looks. When you chose to wear makeup once in a while on a fancy occasion to change you look and have a dramatic red carpet entrance is awesome but not to depend on makeup to feel beautiful to please the tough audience.

Embrace your natural face with flaws and all.

Be proud to be you!

Best ways to hydrate your skin

water Sodium hyaluronate swisszell eye cream moisturizer

Drinking water hydrates your body from within but is distributed to the entire body. The moisture level of the skin depends on environmental factors and skin care regimen.

Environmental factors

Weather conditions such as extreme winter can leave the skin dry and itchy. It needs a strong barrier moisturizer to protect the skin. Then indoor heated air accelerates water loss from skin cells.

In hot dry windy weather conditions can speed the evaporation of moisture from the surface of the skin creating trans-epidermal water loss. Wind gust whisks moisture away from the epidermis breaking the protective barrier of lipid and protein cells in the skin. Humidifiers can help balance the indoor humidity levels but still need a moisturizing barrier for outdoor activities.

Skin care regimen

We often use the same skin care products during all four seasons. Sometimes we have to change some of them to adapt to the skin needs during the change of seasons. Winter is harsh on the skin and needs extra moisture to keep the skin hydrated. You have to avoid face wash that strip your skin of their natural oils and use extra moisturizing cream with sodium hyaluronate.

Sodium hyaluronate

Sodium hyaluronate is the smaller form of hyaluronic acid derived from sodium salt.  This potent suspended molecule penetrates deeply into the dermal layers of the skin. This ingredient has natural moisturizing factors to retain water in the skin for a hydrated and smooth feeling.

This natural fluid is found in the body that acts as a lubricant on the skin to restore moisture and prevent friction or abrasion. The topical medication can treat skin ulcers, wounds, dry and scaly skin. Due to its restorative properties helps repair tissues by binding collagen and elastin in the skin to improve firmness and elasticity. Its antioxidant properties help fight free radicals caused by environmental pollution.

Skin care products with this humectant help protect the skin from transdermal water loss. It helps keep extremely dry skin from flaking.

Sodium hyaluronate provides exceptional moisturizing benefits reducing the signs of aging for all skin types.

A diet rich in fatty acids, drinking a lot of water and this skin care humectant can truly keep your skin fully hydrated.

6 Habits of People Who Age Well

Exercise, diet—even attitude—can be as important as genetics when it comes to growing old gracefully. Sure, growing older affects nearly every part of your body—including your hair, skin, heart, muscles, and more—but aging well may be as simple as adopting these (mostly) easy everyday habits.

1. Maintain a positive attitude.

You are what you think you are when it comes to aging. Seniors who think of age as a means to wisdom and overall satisfaction are more than 40 percent more likely to recover from a disability than those who see aging as synonymous with helplessness or uselessness, according to The Journal of the American Medical Association.

2. Eat Healthy

Nutrition plays a major role in how your body ages. The latest research shows that a low-glycemic diet high in fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein is healthiest. One great example is the Mediterranean diet, rich in plant-based foods, whole grains, nuts, and red wine (in moderation!). It also involves eating fish twice each week and cutting back on salt. Research shows that this type of diet may help you age better by warding off heart attacks, strokes, and premature death.

To age well and live longer, it’s best to stick to a balanced diet that consists of about 2.5 cups of vegetables, 1.5 to two cups of fruit, six ounces of grains, three cups of dairy, and five ounces of protein each day.

3. Exercise regularly.

Staying active is a vital part of aging well. The average woman can lose 23 percent of her muscle mass between ages of 30 and 70. You lose muscle more rapidly as you age, but exercise—resistance workouts in particular—can increase mass and strength, even well into your 90s. Staying fit may also reduce age-related memory loss, according to a study published in the journal Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience. Plus, Alzheimer’s disease accounts for approximately 60 to 70 percent of all dementia cases, adding that increasing physical activity can decrease this statistic by 25 percent. That’s because exercise strengthens the hippo-campus, the region of the brain associated with learning.

4. Skincare routine.

Being a creature of habit can work in your favor—at least when it comes to your skin. Add eye cream to your skin care, if you don’t have a quality eye cream in your skin-care arsenal, you’re seriously missing out. Some of you may be struggling to get rid of puffiness and dark circles under and around your eyes. We created Swiss Zell Instant Eye Wrinkle Defense Cream for morning and evening ($125, swisszell.com).

5. Protect your skin from the sun.

Too much time in the sun can cause wrinkles, not to mention cancer. But wearing sunscreen can help prevent your skin’s aging. And while the sun’s UV rays do trigger vitamin D production, which is essential for bone health, that’s hardly a good reason to expose yourself. After a few minutes of sun, your skin stops making vitamin D…and starts making skin cancer. Most people get plenty of Vitamin D, but if you think you’re not, try eating more salmon or even eggs (also eat the yolk).

6. Get beauty sleep.

You probably know that you should snooze for seven to nine hours each night. But did you know that not sleeping enough may mean a higher risk of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Plus, naps can improve memory and even help make up for missing nightly sleep. And it turns out that “beauty sleep” isn’t a myth. During sleep, your body releases a growth hormone that helps restore collagen and elastin, the essential building blocks of young, healthy skin. Recent studies have also shown a connection between insomnia and accelerated aging of the brain.

In other words, chronic lack of sleep adversely affects your brain’s function and speeds up the aging process.

FERMENTED FACE: The benefits of probiotics

The benefits of probiotics or “health bacteria” in skin care most often found in fermented foods with live active cultures. For example: Greek yogurt and kimchi.

This is not a new topic. More than 80 years ago, dermatologists John H. Stokes hypothesized that the stress we experience in life had the ability to negative alter gut health leading to inflammation on the skin’s surface. He proposed that consuming the probiotic Lactobacillus acidophilus could help the skin, and in recent years these theories are becoming very popular.

Dr. Rebecca Kazin, board-certified dermatologist at the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery, tell us that having healthy intestinal flora—the bacteria present in our gut—isn’t only important for our digestion tract, but can also be good for our skin. “Maintaining [a heathy flora] is important and probiotics are a great way of doing this,” she says.

The Science

To understand the science behind fermented skin care, think of digestive enzymes. Just as fermented foods and enzyme supplements aid in the digestion and absorption of nutrients you consume, fermentation of the nutrients in topical skin care makes them more concentrated and easily absorbed.

These beauty products often contain fruit, herbs and yeast, all of which can be fermented. The fermentation process transforms the natural substances in a moisturizer, serum or mask, enabling the skin to more readily accept and absorb these ingredients.

Beauty Benefits

In addition to easier and quicker absorption, fermentation also works to increase the nutrient density, making the product’s natural ingredients more powerful. Wine for instance, has greater overall antioxidant capacity than grape juice.

Often fermented yeast extract is included in these formulations, since the fermentation process produces amino acids and peptides that help skin’s cellular renewal. In 2007 a study in Dermatologic Therapy found that fermented yeast extract could help diminish the signs of skin aging by improving collagen synthesis.

EAT UP: PROBIOTIC FOODS

Interested in incorporating more probiotics into your diet to reap the possible skin care benefits? Look for foods like yogurt, aged cheese, kefir, kombucha, kimchi, and sauerkraut on your next trip to the supermarket.

While further study is needed to substantiate the actual affects of probiotics on our skin, eating a well-balanced diet is always a good choice for your overall well-being!

TIPS TO REVIVE TIRED COMPLEXION

Staying up all night studying or binge watching the latest season of Game of Thrones might’ve sounded like a good idea at the time, but dealing with a dull, tired complexion the next morning is never fun. There’s nothing less flattering than taking on the day with a sleepy zombie face.

Healthy skin is essential to achieving natural beauty, so make sure you have all the basics covered below before you even try to achieve a flawless complexion with cosmetic.

Stick to Hydration

A tired complexion is usually lacking in hydration, so reach for products that pack a lot of moisture. Skin cells need plenty of water in order to stay plump and healthy, and staying hydrated enables your cells to benefit by removing things such as waste products that are not healthy for the skin. Staying hydrated is one of the simplest and least expensive radiant skin tips. Coffee and tea are actually dehydrating, so try green tea instead to provide anti-inflammatory benefits and protect cell membranes.

Poor Diet

Good skin is a reflection of inner health, and what your diet contains can be reflected in dry, unhealthy skin. Nutrients play an important role in maintaining a healthy skin, so pay special attention to your diet, and take vitamin supplements to ensure that you are getting sufficient vitamins to achieve a flawless complexion.

Sleep!

Get enough sleep! Glowing skin depends on sleep to stay healthy and strong. If you have sleep deficit, your skin will be more prone to breakouts, excess oiliness or dryness and an overall dull complexion because it’s less able to withstand environmental irritants and stress factors. Regularly drinking booze and caffeine dehydrate the skin and sugary foods break down collagen and elastin over time, dulling complexions. If you can’t cut back on coffee or cake, drink lots of water and eat more veggies — they help balance your body’s pH levels, which can make skin glowy.

Focus On The Eyes

The eyes can be a dead giveaway that you are majorly lacking sleep, so I always make sure to focus a lot on a good quality eye cream. First, I like to use a lightweight cream all over the lid and eye contour to really wake the eyes up SwissZell Instant Eye Wrinkle Defense Cream is my favorite for it’s nourishing milk protein and smoothing formula that instantly fills lines and wrinkles for a radiant look.

Exfoliate: Your Skin Will Reflect More Light

Exfoliation of dead skin cells is a great way to attain a more glowing skin. The outermost layer of the epidermis is made up of dead skin cells that go through a normal process of exfoliation. However, if you want to avoid a dull complexion and uncover more glowing skin, it’s helpful to exfoliate, avoiding a buildup of these dead skin cells. Exfoliation is also great to remove dead cells that may be clogging up the top of pores.

Now that you now some of the causes and tips to regain that glow is never too late to put into practice. If you have any other ideas or techniques feel free to share below. Thank you!

Is lemon juice on the face good or bad?

Lemon juice is loaded with healthy vitamins so it is useful as both a food and as a home remedy for many disorders. What is less well known is that lemon juice also has many benefits when applied directly to the skin. What are those benefits? How to apply lemon juice for optimum results?

The acids in the juice may be irritating to some people so be sure to dilute lemon juice with water before applying it to your skin. Some of the benefits of lemon juice on skin include:

– Vitamin C – Also known as ascorbic acid, vitamin C does a great job at evening out pigmentation without too much irritation.

– Citric acid – Citric acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). You can read more about AHAs in skincare here, but in short they’re great for exfoliating your skin, making it look plumper and smoother.

– Niacin (vitamin B3) – This is anti-inflammatory, helps with pigmentation and alleviates dry skin as well.

So yes, lemon could be great for your skin! This are some of the benefits of using lemon juice:

1. Diminishes scars and age spots

The discoloration caused by scars, certain skin disorders and age spots can be diminished by applying lemon juice to the discolored area.

2. Heals acne

Lemon juice has natural antibacterial properties that make it a good choice to help cure acne and prevent further breakouts. Using lemon juice on blackheads has been shown to reduce the frequency and severity of blackheads.

3. Exfoliates

Lemon juice is a natural exfoliant since the citric acid acts as a gentle “skin peel” that removes the top layer of dead skin cells. This will result in a smooth complexion when used regularly.

4. Lightens the skin

Brightening or lightening the skin, moisturizing and toning oily skin, and fighting wrinkles.

Tips and Warnings for Using Lemon Juice on Skin

There are some tips and warnings for using lemon juice on your skin:

1. Stinging sensation

Lemon juice may produce stinging due to the citric acid in the juice. Mix the lemon juice with some water if you cannot tolerate the burning and stinging. Start by mixing the lemon juice and water in a half and half solution and then adjust the mixture based on how your skin feels.

2. Dry skin

Lemon juice applied to already dry skin can actually make that condition worse. If you do have dry skin, be sure to use a good moisturizer after applying lemon juice to your skin. Lemon juice and honey also make for a good antibacterial and moisturizing combination. If your skin is oily, try combining the lemon juice with some cucumber juice.

4. The right frequency

Using lemon juice on your skin every day may lead to dry, broken skin that is more susceptible to infection.

5. Keeping off sun exposure

Be cautious when using lemon juice especially if there’s a large amount of lemon juice in it, and make sure you wear sunscreen next time you go into the sun. And stop immediately if you see any signs of irritation or depigmentation!

Have you tried lemon juice? I’m sure there are many other ways you can use lemon juice in your beauty regime. Comment down below and share your beauty tricks with me! 🙂

My 5 Skin Secrets

The older I got the wiser I became towards my skin. I remember the days when I would run out of the house without sunscreen or purposely tan for hours in the early afternoon wearing nothing but just a bare face. Although I thought I would never use anti-aging products or wear a hat in the sun, I will admit that I have changed my ways. I now spend my days finding the perfect products that have become part of my lifestyle.

I recently started using a product called Swiss Zell Transdermal Cellular Therapy Serum which is a lightweight Swiss made serum formulated with tomato stem cells to visibly reduce deep lines and wrinkles in just two weeks! I want to share my 5 skin tips for obtaining youthful skin as well as ways to incorporate Swiss Zell Transdermal Cellular Therapy Serum into your daily routine, here it goes:

Eat Well

We are what we eat which is why it’s so important to maintain a well-balanced diet. There are many benefits to eating fresh fruits and veggies such as fueling your body with antioxidants. Your skin will be bright and glowing in no time.

Exercise

Working up a good sweat has been linked to smoother more radiant skin. When our pores dilate, sweat expels trapped dirt and oil. Aerobic exercise provides your body with a heavy dose of oxygenated blood. Your skin instantly glows more and that glow is maintained for hours after a workout.
Exercise helps the skin to produce collagen, which is a protein that helps to keep your skin supple, firm, and elastic.

Drink Water

Water is essential to maintain the skin moisture and deliver essential nutrients to the skin cells. It replenishes the skin tissue and increases its elasticity. This helps delay the appearance of signs of ageing like wrinkles and fine lines.  Adding lemon to your water adds a boost of vitamin C which is needed for the synthesis of collagen. Lemon is also known to clear acne and blackheads creating a youthful glow.

Exfoliate

Weekly facial scrubs are an essential way for removing dead skin and blackheads. By gently exfoliating dry skin cells, the skin will appear to feel smoother and look refreshed as the cells are newer.

Night Routine

This routine is very important since your body naturally enhances its ability to fight environmental and natural damage while you sleep. Sleep also increases melatonin (the sleep hormone), which acts like an antioxidant to fight age spots and lines.  You can read more about the 8 hour beauty sleep secret here.

It’s important to hydrate the skin and use products that aid the skin in repairing its self from within. I typically use an anti-aging serum such as Swiss Zell Transdermal Cellular Therapy Serum.

I follow this up by a hydrating under eye cream.

What do you guys do to keep your skin looking young? Share your comments below 😉
