Sleep Your Way to Beauty

Sleep! Everyone needs to sleep. Sleep is essential to not only our body health but also skin health as well. We’ve all heard people said that they need their beauty sleep. That is because sleeping has beauty benefits. From the look of the skin, you can tell if that person is sleep deprived or not. The face says it all.

Not enough sleep will worsen skin conditions. Less sleep can lead to increased stressed hormones which will cause acne breakouts. It can also cause the skin to feel dehydrated and look dull. The worse thing it can do to you is giving you dark circles under your eyes, aka panda eyes! These sound cute but it will take a long time to get rid of. The eyes will be puffy and dry too. All in all, lack of sleep will cause you to look tired and age faster.

Now, here are some beauty benefits of sleep. You would have brighter and less puffy eyes. During your sleep, your skin makes new collagen and repairs the damaged skin. You will see less wrinkles and fine lines. It is like a natural anti-aging process. Tip: Your skin loses more water when you sleep than it does during the day. So, remember to always apply cream or serum to lock the moisture in your skin. Your face would look more radiance and less tired if you have enough sleep.

I said “enough” because having lots of sleep isn’t good for you either. Have you ever woke up and feel sore all over your body? Yup, that’s either too much sleep or too little sleep. It is advised that we should sleep on an average of 7 to 9 hours a day. Enough sleep equals better performance.

So tonight, do yourself a favor. Make yourself comfortable on your bed and have a good night sleep. Trust me, you will love it. 😉

Asia’s Best Kept Beauty Secret: Rice

As an Asian, I love the smell of freshly cooked rice. I would stick my face near the bowl of rice and feel the steam on my face. Ah… my pores are opening up and it’s time to clean out the impurities on my skin. That’s what I would do every time I have a bowl of freshly cooked rice in front of me.

Besides rice being a big part of the Asian diet, rice can be used for skincare benefits. And no, we don’t put rice on our faces, we use rice water. Yes, water that comes from cleaning the rice. Many Asians, especially the Japanese, use rice water in their skin care routines to keep their skin looking flawless.

What’s so good about rice water? Rice water contains many minerals and vitamins that have great beauty benefits. It does a wonderful job brightening skin and shrinking pores. It acts as an acne healer by gradually reducing redness and helps in dealing with eczema. It is also great for removing any dirt and impurities in your skin. Rice water can be used on all skin types. Whether you have dry or oily skin, rice water can help enhance the feel and look of your skin.

Where can I get rice water? I recommend making it yourself because it is chemical free and fresh. The quickest way to make rice water is by simply saving the water after you’ve rinsed the rice clean. Pour out the water after the first rinse to clean the rice from dirt. For the second rinse, let the rice soak in the water for a while and pour the rice water into a clean jar. The second method is to boil the rice and strain out the excess water. The rice water should be white and has a high concentration of nutrients.

Use the rice water as a toner and it will keep the skin smooth and radiant. Oh, I forgot to mention that rice water also help keeps your hair healthy, smooth and shiny too. 😉

The Best Vitamins For Beautiful Skin

As a beauty addict, taking care of my skin should be essential because no one wants to have bad skin and looking old. The most important factor of having beautiful skin is what you put inside your body. The foods you intake do have an effect on your skin. The more junk and oily food you eat in the long term, your skin will become less healthy and your face will look more dull. But sadly enough, I love eating junk food. My mind is saying “no” but my stomach is saying “yes.” So, to control myself from eating too many junks, I try to eat fruits that contain many vitamins.  There are many foods that contain vitamins that are healthy to both our body and skin.

So what are some vitamins that are essential for having beautiful skin? Actually, you can find these vitamins in many fruits and vegetables. Here is a short list of the vitamins:

  • Vitamin A: This vitamin is essential for the maintenance and repair of vital skin tissues. Lotions containing vitamin A can help control acne and reduce lines and wrinkles as well.
  • Vitamin C: I bet no one on earth does not know what vitamin C is. It is the most common known vitamin among the vitamin family. Vitamin C aids in skin care because of two things. One is its antioxidant properties and two is its importance in collagen synthesis. The antioxidants can fend off the signs of aging and helps heal damaged skin.
  • Vitamin E: Vitamin E helps reduce the appearance of scars and rough, dry skin. It protects the skin against sun damage by absorbing the harmful UV light from the sun when applied topically. It can also help in the treatment of skin inflammation.
  • Vitamin K: If you have dark circles and tend to have bruises, then you need lots of vitamin K because it is crucial for fading them. Just remember to apply it topically for the most benefit.

Taking vitamins orally might be important but applying on your skin directly would have a better and faster effect. Tomato stemcells is the main ingredient for SwissZell, which has all of the vitamins I mentioned above. Currently, SwissZell has a Mother’s Day promotion of 20% OFF. Don’t miss out this opportunity! I wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day. Remember to stay young and beautiful!

How To Use Pearl Powder On Your Face

I’ve already heard about using pearl powder as a beauty product for many years, but it is until recently that I started to give it a try. Pearl powder has been used by many female impresses of China in the ancient days as a skin care preparation and cosmetic. Today, you can see many Asian cosmetics and creams contain pearl powder. Many People take it internally too, but let’s just stick with what pearl powder can do to your skin for now.

So, what is pearl powder? Pearl powder is actually grinded powder from pearls. There are two types of pearls, sea water pearl and fresh water pearl. Fresh water pearls are more abundant, therefore, less expensive than sea water pearls. But it doesn’t really matter which type of pearl powder you put on your face, it will have the same effect. Just make sure it says “100% pure pearl powder” and nothing else added.  Pearl powder is rich in calcium, protein and vitamins and very high in amino acid, so it is great for all skin types. It helps ease skin inflammation, promotes healing, and enhances elasticity and luminosity.

Recently, I use the pearl powder in 3 different ways:

  1. As a mask. I either mix pearl powder with honey or yogurt, and apply it on my face for anti-aging and also getting rid of acne scars and any kind of redness on my face. It is great for removing blotches and rosacea as well.
  2. I mix pearl powder with my beauty products like foundations and creams. This helps for oil control and also it helps even out my skin tone.
  3. As a finishing touch to my makeup routine. I spread a thin layer of pearl powder on my face with a brush after I’ve done my makeup. This will help to control oil and act as a setting powder. Don’t spread too much, or your face will be too pale and white like a geisha. Oh, and pearl powder helps filter out UV rays and prevent hyperpigmentation too!

After mask or before makeup, don’t forget to apply a thin layer of cream or serum to protect and moisturize your skin!

Beer keeps your kidneys healthy and reduces the risk of kidney stones by 40%. It helps lower the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer. Beer also promotes stronger bones and help guard against strokes. It is rich in vitamins such as choline, flavonoids, pantothenic acid, vitamin B and vitamin B3. It’s hard to believe that an alcoholic beverage like beer can have so many health benefits and can also be a source of vitamins!

For all the beauty addicts out there, I have good news for you. Beer is great for your skin! Beer as a cleanser is great for clearing blocked pores while hydrating your skin. It also does an excellent job reducing acne and increasing natural skin shine. Love doing masks? Why not try a beer mask! Here are two mask recipes you can try at home. It’s easy and convenient.

To be honest, I’m not a big fan of beer, but after finding out the health and beauty benefits, maybe I’ll stop by the supermarket and get some for me and my family tonight. Comment below and tell me what you do with your beer and other benefits. Cheers! 😉
